Addiction isn’t really about the substance — it’s about pressure. Picture a volcano: the drinking is only what shows at the surface, but the lava underneath is pain looking for a way out. Layers build it up, and what you do with the pressure decides whether it erupts onto everyone around — or settles.
← Back to the care planThree layers fill the chamber — a biological tilt, old wounds, present-day pain — until it erupts: lava bombs fly and the flow burns the people nearby.
This is the same shape as the high-dopamine distraction loop: the cap lowers the feeling for a moment, but pressure still builds underneath. Then the whole thing shakes, blows bigger than before, reforms, and repeats.
The only real release is draining it at the root — the shame, the fear, the question of identity underneath. Self-soothing and grounding techniques lower the body pressure while that deeper work happens.
On the far side of the work, the ground that was all magma becomes a place that can grow again — calm, alive, no eruption needed.
You can’t cap a volcano. You can only lower what feeds it.
